Conservation Stewards

The South Carolina Aquarium Conservation Stewards is a community of annual supporters with a deep connection to the Aquarium, inspired to lead the way to connect people with water, wildlife, and wild places. Conservation Stewards support the efforts of the Aquarium to preserve South Carolina’s natural treasures, conserve habitats, and connect individuals to the wonder of the natural world.

PRESERVE a way of life through sustainable seafood education, organized beach sweeps, and other efforts that reflect pride in South Carolina’s water, wildlife, and wild places

CONSERVE our state’s species, habitats and ecosystems through initiatives such as environmental research and sea turtle rescue

CONNECT people and communities to the natural world through educational programs, interpretive exhibitry and engaging personal experiences

These efforts would not be possible without the generous support of Conservation Stewards, who make annual contributions above and beyond the cost of a regular membership. You are invited to deepen your connection with the Aquarium and make an impact that reaches far beyond the Aquarium’s walls by becoming a Conservation Steward.

In appreciation of your contribution, the following benefits will be extended:

$300 Level

  • Membership at the Family Plus level; and
  • Special invitations to Conservation Stewards exclusive events

$500 Level

  • All of the above; plus
  • Limited edition gift of eight notecards featuring the art of Laura Palermo; and
  • Private behind-the-scenes tour for up to six people annually

$1000 Level

  • An invitation to one Watershed Society reception.

The Watershed Society

The South Carolina Aquarium is proud to announce the launch of a brand new fundraising initiative known as The Watershed Fund. This six-year campaign, scheduled to run from April 2014 through April 2020, is designed to drive the Aquarium into the future by focusing on our core competencies and key institutional priorities of becoming a fresh voice for Conservation, improving the overall Guest Experience, scaling and sustaining our Education programs, the construction of a new Sea Turtle Hospital, and securing the future of the Aquarium through an Endowment Fund.

Unrestricted gifts to The Watershed Fund will be distributed among these categories of work, and applied to areas of greatest need. Gifts may also be restricted to individual categories, upon request.

Annual supporters who contribute at the $1,500 level and above are entitled to membership in The Watershed Society, a circle of supporters who enjoy exclusive benefits, including a Family Plus Membership, invitations to special events and after-hours Aquarium access, as well as family-friendly outings.
