Birdhouse Building Workshop

Where: South Carolina Aquarium
Invite birds into your backyard! Join Aquarium staff and learn about the different birds living in the Lowcountry. Then, build your own birdhouse for your backyard – just in time for spring! All materials will be provided. Reservations are $7 for members per birdhouse and $10 for non-members per birdhouse. Space is Limited. Reservations required.

Love Under the Sea Valentine's Day Dinner

Where: South Carolina Aquarium
This February 14th, make your loved one as happy as a clam with reservations to the South Carolina Aquarium Love under the Sea Valentine’s Dinner. You and your lovebird will enjoy a delectable 3-course meal with your choice of white or red wine, and a surprise gift, all while floating amongst magnificent views and learning about the intimate mating and love connections of marine creatures. Doors will open at 6:15 p.m. for those wishing to tour the Aquarium, dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Dinner reservations start at $165 a couple. Members receive a $10 discount on their reservations. Southeastern Wildlife Exposition Coupon Discount

Fear No Easel Painting Workshop

Volunteer Orientation

From divers to Aquarium mascots, the South Carolina Aquarium’s Volunteer Program is comprised of hundreds of diverse, enthusiastic individuals who serve in a variety of positions and departments. Volunteers have the opportunity to interact with hundreds of visitors each day, reach into the discovery tank, assist visitors with aquatic animals or serve as an Aquarium Ambassador at a community event.

Surf Fishing Clinic: A Members-only Program

South Carolina Aquarium Gala: An Evening in Madagascar

On Saturday, April 28, 2012, the South Carolina Aquarium will host its annual Gala: An Evening in Madagascar. An event dedicated to conservation, guests will join together as we highlight the importance of maintaining biodiversity here in South Carolina, and in places like Madagascar, as well as worldwide. The evening will allow guests to feel as if they have traveled to the island and back in one night with themed cocktails, seated dinner, an Environmental Stewardship Awards presentation, theatrical performances, and new to the evening, an After Affair inside the Aquarium. The South Carolina Aquarium Gala is a black tie affair.

World Oceans Day

Seining Program: A Members-only Program

Back by popular demand! Assist the Aquarium staff as we search the sand and waves for sea creatures. We’ll drag a large net called a seine through the surf and collect fish, crabs and maybe even a small shark. Our educators will show you the secret lives of fish, seashells and other beach dwellers as we walk along. Tickets are $8 per member. Space is Limited. Reservations required.

   Breakfast with the Otters: A Mountain Forest Otter Program

 Join the fun as the Aquarium’s river otters arrive for breakfast. Watch how the Aquarium staff feeds these energetic creatures and learn more about their habitat, thick fur and playful nature! (Note: a regular animal program occurs during this time on Sundays.)

   Dive into the Great Ocean!: An Interactive Dive Show

 Come to the Lower Ocean Gallery and join our staff as we explore the habitats and the lives of the animals in the South Carolina Aquarium’s largest exhibit.

   Touch Tank Feeding: An Up-Close Feeding Experience

 Help our staff and volunteers feed the horseshoe crabs, sea urchins and other animals that live in the Touch Tank.

   Animal Encounters: A Great Hall Live Animal Program

   All about Alligators: A Blackwater Swamp Program
Location - Blackwater Swamp Exhibit

 Join educators and staff near the Blackwater Swamp to learn all about alligators! Learn what makes Alabaster translucent and about the American alligator species!

   The Aquarium Behind-the-Scenes Tour
Location - South Carolina Aquarium
 Daily, 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm
 Take a look behind the exhibits, and discover how we fill a 385,000-gallon tank, feed over 5,000 animals daily, and what all goes into running an Aquarium! Adult: $10, Child: $5 after General Admission or Membership.
