Town Hall Meetings to Educate on Sea Level Impact

Town Hall meetings have been organized in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, and Savannah to discuss the effects of climate change and rising sea levels on our coast.

Participants will be introduced to climate change through the film “Climate Change: A Global Reality.” Following the program, a group of local experts will be on hand to discuss the impacts climate change has on the area and how the community and individuals can best prepare for rising sea levels.

Specific town meeting locations are: Charleston, SC at the Charleston County Public Library on July 16th at 9:30 am; Ripley’s Aquarium in Myrtle Beach, SC on August 27th from 9:30 am to 4 pm.

Due to the aftermath of Hurricane Matthew affecting Savannah, Georgia, the town hall meeting on October 15th at Coastal Georgia Center has been rescheduled to January 28, 2017. Breakfast will be served at 9:30 am, and the program will commence at 10:00 am. Register here.

In the meantime, please join us for a free Savannah Community Resilience Reception that will be held the evening of Friday, November 4th, 2016, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at the Southern Pine Company of Georgia in Savannah. The event is being hosted by PERC Coffee located at the Southern Pine Company of GA urban incubator complex. Legendary Chef Ms. Sallie Ann Robinson will be providing the catering services, giving guests a taste of authentic Gullah Geechee cuisine. During the reception, the topic of coastal resilience will be discussed along with the details of the town meeting in January.
