Carly
I wanted to become Sea Star because I am very interested in marine life and conservation. I live on the beach and have always loved learning about sea life. I love to read books about animals, watch Animal Planet and IMAX movies on animals, visit zoos and aquariums and see them in the wild. When I grow up I want to be a marine biologist. I think I would like to study dolphins. I saw a great opportunity in becoming Sea Star to help other people want to conserve.
Scuba diving is my favorite hobby. I got certified at 10, which is the minimum age. I really like to see marine life in their natural habitat. It makes you feel like one of them. I once saw a sting ray. I did not feel in danger, but just felt like it was a beautiful, fragile creature. Dolphins are my favorite animal because they are so beautiful and smart. I love the way they sleep with half their brain still awake and with one eye open to always watch for predators. I think that it is cool that they are also the only animal which sharks fear.
Carly's Goals:
My goal this year is to get more children interested in the aquarium so that they can learn more about conservation and these children can then, in turn, spread the message.
Becoming a voice for kids: Through my monthly Captain Logs, I want to reach as many children as I can and tell them about the aquarium and the amazing sea life.
