Spartina grass in the Saltmarsh

Green grass is everywhere in a saltmarsh

You are in the Saltmarsh exhibit. A saltmarsh is a habitat where grassy areas are covered by saltwater twice a day when the tide comes in. More plants grow in saltmarshes than in any other habitat on earth, except rainforests.

The plants growing here are called cordgrass. CLICK HERE to learn more about cordgrasses and why they are important to saltmarshes.
