March 16- Wild Carolina: The Art of Scott Penegar

Experience wildlife from a new vantage point as you view the inspired works of renowned local artist Scott Penegar. Influenced by his passion for the sea, Penegar captures moments in nature through his detailed sculpture and bronze casting art. As a fisherman, former exhibit designer for the North Carolina Aquarium and avid traveler who has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean twice, Penegar presents a unique and intimate perspective of nature. April 23- Southerly Restaurant & Patio: a Good Catch Dinner

6:30 p.m.
Savor fresh seafood while you support sustainability at Southerly Restaurant & Patio as Executive Chef Chad Billings prepares a delicious five-course dinner. The flavorful menu includes grilled Combahee clams & smoked pork meatballs, soft shell crab & corn and crab spoon bread, triggerfish & red rice risotto, and lemon ice box pie. Tickets are $45 each plus tax and gratuity, and wine, beer and cocktails will be available for purchase. A portion of proceeds will benefit Good Catch. Reservations are required. April 24- 15th Anniversary Conservation Gala

6 – 11 p.m.
Join us for the 2015 Conservation Gala to honor conservationist Jeff Corwin with the Environmental Stewardship Award, celebrate the Aquarium’s 15th Anniversary and commemorate the opening of Shark Shallows. The festive black-tie evening will include a cocktail reception, a seated dinner and awards ceremony on Liberty Square and an After-Affair overlooking the Charleston Harbor.  Tickets will be available February 20 and may be purchased by calling (843) 579-8540.

April 25- Saltwater Sounds

9:30 a.m. – noon
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra joins the Aquarium to present a marine-inspired musical performance especially for children. Enjoy tunes by the tank and visit the Instrument Petting Zoo, where children can see, hear and touch the instruments as demonstrated by professional musicians. Saltwater Sounds is free with Aquarium admission or Membership.

May 7- Shark Shallows Daytime Preview: a Members-only Event

10 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Be one of the first to experience sharks at your fingertips! Explore Shark Shallows – an impressive 20,000-gallon touch tank for sharks and rays where you can reach out and touch the animals. Reservations are not required.

May 7- Shark Shallows Opening Celebration: a Members-only Event

6:30 – 8 p.m.
Join us for an exclusive event to celebrate the premiere of the largest addition to the Aquarium experience since we opened! Explore Shark Shallows – an impressive 20,000-gallon touch tank for sharks and rays where you can reach out and touch the animals. Light refreshments will be served. May 9- Shark Shallows Grand Opening

Experience sharks at your fingertips. Join us for the premiere of Shark Shallows, the Aquarium’s newest exhibit featuring a shark touch tank. Want to be among the first to experience Shark Shallows? It pays to be an Aquarium Member! Special Members-only Shark Shallows preview events leading up to the Grand Opening will be announced soon.

May 9- Lake Marion Paddle for Freshwater Mussels with NOA: a Members-only Event

1 – 4 p.m.
Embark on a paddling journey with a Professional Naturalist Guide in search of freshwater mussels. Take in breathtaking lakeside and island views as you learn how you can conserve the mussels native to our area. Ages 4 and up. $50 for ages 13 and over; $30 for ages 12 and under. May 18- The Summer’s End Release Party

6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Looking for the perfect beach read to begin your Lowcountry summer? Join us for the official launch of The Summer’s End, author and conservationist Mary Alice Monroe‘s third installment of The Lowcountry Summer trilogy. Enjoy food, drinks and music at the Aquarium and secure your signed copy of this inspirational book by a New York Times best-selling author. Tickets to the event are $30 each or $35 with autographed book. A portion of book sales will benefit the Sea Turtle Rescue Program, and tours of the Sea Turtle Hospital will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
