January 10- Toddler Time: A Members-only Event

8 – 9 a.m.
Parents and children alike love to explore the Aquarium in the morning! Our 1- to 3-year-old friends can meet exciting creatures with up-close animal encounters and have the Aquarium all to themselves before the crowds arrive. Adults enjoy complimentary coffee and muffins. Snacks for the kids will also be served. This is a members-only event. Tickets are $10 per member child, and two adults get in free with each participating child. To make a reservation, call (843) 579-8518.

January 10- Awendaw Passage Hike: A Members-only Program

1 – 4:30 p.m.
This wonderful 4.5 mile hike winds alongside Awendaw Creek and through a maritime forest that was once home to the Sewee Indian Tribe. See subtropical vegetation and pristine marshes with unique “cliffs.” View Native American artifacts found in the area and learn about the Coastal Plain Indians. Ages 4 and older. $35 for ages 13 and up; $25 for ages 12 and under. Register online or call (843) 568-3222.

January 14- Homeschool Explorers Club: Fish Day

10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Homeschooling families, enjoy a fun-filled day of hands-on education and meet our expert aquarist, Jennifer Skoy. Learn about the Aquarium’s fish species directly from their caretakers, meet the animals face-to-face, and complete scavenger hunts and educational activities. Participation is $7.50 for students in grades K-8, $11.50 for students in grades 9-12, $14 for chaperones, and $5 per member child. Reserve your spot today! January 25- Lowcountry Oyster Festival

Boone Hall Plantation 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Savor the taste of one of South Carolina’s favorite seafood delicacies at the Lowcountry Oyster Festival! We’ll be joining the Greater Charleston Restaurant Association as they serve over 80,000 oysters at the world’s largest oyster festival. Meet our Good Catch sustainable seafood experts in the VIP Area to learn about responsible oyster farming practices. Get your tickets here.

January 31- Saltwater Sounds

9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra joins the Aquarium to present a marine-inspired musical performance especially for children.  Enjoy tunes by the tank and visit the Instrument Petting Zoo, where children can see, hear, and touch the instruments as demonstrated by professional musicians.  Saltwater Sounds is free with general admission or membership.  For more information, call (843) 579-8518.

February 6- Good Catch Oyster Fest

6:30 – 10:30 p.m.
Join us for a one-of-a-kind party featuring some of Charleston’s best local cuisine to support sustainable seafood! Enjoy delicious, responsibly-sourced oysters from St. Jude Farms; sustainable seafood dishes from Good Catch partners FishFleet Landing and Pane e Vino; a full bar including craft beer from Holy City Brewing; and live bluegrass music by The Bluestone Ramblers – all while you enjoy the fascinating scenery of the Aquarium. Ages 21 and up. Proceeds support Good Catch. All-inclusive tickets are $35 until January 21 or $40 after January 21. Aquarium Member tickets are $30. February 14- A Walk in the Woods: A Members-only Program

1 – 4:30 p.m.
Join Nature Adventures Outfitters’ Professional Naturalist Guides on the Ion Swamp Interpretive Trail and watch Spring come to life! It’s a great time to see ducks on the historic Wythewood Canal and enjoy the beautiful flooded forest without getting your feet wet. You’ll also see where many of the Aquarium’s species live in the wild. As an added bonus, witness the release of a snake and turtle. $35 for ages 13 and up; $25 for ages 12 and under. February 21- Reptile Discovery Program: A Members-only Event

9:30 – 11 a.m.
Whether they slither, hop, jump, swim or crawl, reptiles are sure to fascinate every participant. See them up close and learn about what makes each of them unique in this intriguing program. Our herpetologist, Joshua Zalabak, will take you on a fun “edventure” and share what it’s like to handle the most dangerous animals at the Aquarium. In this program you will learn about how he handles venomous snakes, watch as he feeds a snake, learn how he gives Alabaster the albino alligator his annual physical and more.
