feature animal for an up-close look.
Nature Discovery, 10:30 a.m.
Join us in the Great Hall to get hands on with nature!
Activities could include owl pellet dissection, sifting for shark teeth,
identifying fish from the harbor and much more!
'The Pisces Right' Dive Show, 11 a.m.
At this fun, game show dive program you’ll join Bob Sharker
to learn all about our Great Ocean Tank and its residents.

All About Alligators: A Blackwater Swamp Program, 12 p.m.
Learn jaw-dropping facts about alligators, including Alabaster,
our albino alligator.

Behind-the-Scenes Tour of the Sea Turtle Hospital, 12 p.m. *
Visit South Carolina’s only Sea Turtle Hospital and take an up-close look at our current patients. Discover the special care sick and injured sea turtles receive.

Saltmarsh Show, 1 p.m.
In our Saltmarsh aviary you’ll find out why this unique
habitat is so important to our coast.

August 31 - The Granary:  A Sustainable Seafood Initiative Dinner

Chef Brannon Florie will present a five course pairing of Palmetto beers with local, seasonal seafood dishes. Andrew Hiser of Tobias Seafood, Thomas Koenig of Coastal Mountain, and Shelley Dearhart of the South Carolina Aquarium’s Sustainable Seafood Initiative will highlight Charleston’s local seafood industry and sustainable fishing practices. Tickets are $75 each, space is limited, and the event is expected to sell out quickly. Call The Granary at (843) 216-3832 to make a reservation.

Parents and children alike will have a great time exploring the Aquarium during this special hour just for toddlers! Our 1- to 3-year-old friends can enjoy up-close animal encounters and experience the Aquarium before the crowds arrive. Adults enjoy complimentary coffee and muffins. Snacks for the kids will also be served. Tickets are $10 per member child (two adults get in free with each participating child). Reservations required. September 20 - Saltwater Sounds

The Charleston Symphony Orchestra joins the Aquarium to present a marine-inspired musical performance especially for children. Enjoy tunes by the tank and visit the Instrument Petting Zoo, where children can see, hear, and touch the instruments with the help of professional musicians. October 11 - Ocean to Table Shrimp Baiting Clinic with Lowcountry Boil: A Members-only Event

Get ready for shrimping season with this hands-on clinic conducted in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources and Sustainable Seafood Initiative partner Fleet Landing. Learn the basics of shrimp baiting and receive helpful tips to make your shrimping efforts more successful. You’ll also make a few bait balls and practice throwing a cast net. Drew Hedlund, Executive Chef at Fleet Landing, will demonstrate how to prepare a Lowcountry Boil. Participants will be able to eat their catch! Recommended for ages 8+.
