Now through August 2- Wild Carolina: The Art of Scott Penegar

Experience wildlife from a new vantage point as you view the inspired works of renowned local artist Scott Penegar. Influenced by his passion for the sea, Penegar captures moments in nature through his detailed sculpture and bronze casting art. As a fisherman, former exhibit designer for the North Carolina Aquarium and avid traveler who has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean twice, Penegar presents a unique and intimate perspective of nature. July 7- JumpBunch (Members-only Event)- SOLD OUT

10 – 10:30 a.m.
A toddler’s dream! This 30-minute program is designed for your little ones to get their sillies out in a fun setting at the Aquarium. Jump, dance, wiggle, skip, play and have fun to music. Recommended for ages 18 months to 4 years old. Free to members. Reservations are required in advance and can be made by calling (843) 579-8518.

July 11- Paddle in Search of Manatees with NAO (Members-only Event)

1 – 4 p.m. Shem Creek, Mount Pleasant
Every summer, manatees migrate to the Lowcountry’s warm coastal waters. We’re delighted to see them, but they face many threats from humans in our area and are in need of our support. Learn about the hazards manatees face and what you can do to help them. On this paddle we’ll visit a favorite locale of manatees in hopes of seeing one. Ages 4 and up. $50 for ages 13 and over; $30 for ages 12 and under. Register online or call (843) 568-3222.

July 21- Seining on Folly Beach (Members-only Event)

6 – 7:30 p.m.
A member favorite! Assist Aquarium staff as we search the sand and water for aquatic creatures. We’ll drag a seine through the surf to find fish, crabs and maybe even a small shark. Educators will give you a glimpse into the fascinating lives of fish, mollusks and other beach dwellers as we walk along. Tickets are $10 each, and reservations are required. July 24- Discovery Trawl (Members-only Event)

10 – 11:30 a.m. or 12:30 – 2 p.m.
Take a one-of-a-kind boat tour in partnership with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources (SCDNR). We’ll embark on SCDNR’s Educational Vessel Discovery and explore the wildlife in the Aquarium’s “backyard” by trawling in the Charleston Harbor for critters. Ages 10 and up.
