November 1 – December 31 – The Polar Express 4-D Experience

You and your family are invited on an extraordinary 4-D adventure this holiday season on The Polar Express! When a doubting young boy takes an extraordinary train ride to the North Pole, he embarks on a journey of self-discovery showing him that the wonder of life never fades for those who believe. November 15 – December 20 – Toys for Tots

8 – 9 a.m.
In partnership with the United States Marine Corps Reserve and WCBD News 2, we will be accepting Toys for Tots donations through December 20. Bring a new, unopened and unwrapped toy to the Aquarium and receive $5 off your general admission ticket. Donated toys will be collected and distributed to children in need throughout the Lowcountry this holiday season.

November 19 – High Cotton: A Good Catch Dinner

5:30 p.m.
High Cotton will host a four-course sustainable seafood dinner with wine pairings sourced by Ben Arnold Beverage Co. Chef Shawn Kelly will prepare a menu including winter vegetable & Carolina crab salad, local shrimp ravioli with Sunburst Farm trout caviar, panko encrusted flounder, and oyster ice cream with vanilla bean French toast and bacon brittle. Tickets are $70 plus tax and gratuity, and 10% of the proceeds will be donated to Good Catch. Space is limited, and reservations are required. For reservations, call (843) 724-3815.

November 29 – December 21- SCUBA Claus in the Great Ocean Tank

11 a.m.
A very welcome guest from the North Pole will make special weekend appearances in the Great Ocean Tank. From November 29 through December 21, don’t miss this opportunity to see SCUBA Claus swim with the fish during select Aquarium dive shows! For more information, call (843) 577-FISH (3474).

December 6- Sea Life by Starlight

6 – 10 p.m.
Spend a night out under the twinkling stars of Charleston and among the aquatic surroundings of the Aquarium at this fourth annual holiday fundraising event. Enjoy festive cocktails, heavy hors d’oeuvres, music, and a live and silent auction while mingling with fellow supporters of aquatic and natural conservation. Funds from the event will support the conservation and education programs of the South Carolina Aquarium. Event hosted by the Aquarium Ocean Alliance. December 11- Feast of the Fishes

Cannon Green (103 Spring Street, Charleston) at 6:30 p.m.
The Local Palate presents an evening with esteemed chefs celebrating sustainable seafood and holiday wine pairings. Five renowned Southern chefs will each prepare a course of the family-style meal throughout the evening. Whit McMillan, Director of Education at the South Carolina Aquarium, will speak to guests about the importance of choosing sustainable seafood. Cocktails will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. and dinner will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets are $130 each, with 10% of proceeds benefiting Good Catch. December 15- Holiday Extravaganza: A Members-only Event

5:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Avoid the chaos of holiday shopping and enjoy a fun-filled evening at the South Carolina Aquarium. Holiday Extravaganza offers plenty of fun activities for the whole family, plus all your gift-giving needs in one convenient place. Enjoy pictures with Santa, The Polar Express 4-D Experience, cookie decorating, holiday crafts, live animal interactions and more! This special evening will also include a one-day only 20% discount in the Aquarium Shop and discounts on gift memberships and tickets. Light refreshments will be served. January 10- Toddler Time: A Members-only Event

8 – 9 a.m.
Parents and children alike love to explore the Aquarium in the morning! Our 1- to 3-year-old friends can meet exciting creatures with up-close animal encounters and have the Aquarium all to themselves before the crowds arrive. Adults enjoy complimentary coffee and muffins. Snacks for the kids will also be served. This is a members-only event. January 31- Saltwater Sounds

9:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra joins the Aquarium to present a marine-inspired musical performance especially for children.  Enjoy tunes by the tank and visit the Instrument Petting Zoo, where children can see, hear, and touch the instruments as demonstrated by professional musicians.  Saltwater Sounds is free with general admission or membership.  For more information, call (843) 579-8518.

February 7- Reptile Discovery Program: A Members-only Event

9:30 – 11 a.m.
Whether they slither, hop, jump, swim or crawl, reptiles are sure to fascinate every participant. See them up close and learn about what makes each of them unique in this intriguing program. Our herpetologist, Joshua Zalabak, will take you on a fun “edventure” and share what it’s like to handle the most dangerous animals at the Aquarium. In this program you will learn about how he handles venomous snakes, watch as he feeds a snake, learn how he gives Alabaster the albino alligator his annual physical and more.
