March 16- Wild Carolina: The Art of Scott Penegar

Experience wildlife from a new vantage point as you view the inspired works of renowned local artist Scott Penegar. Influenced by his passion for the sea, Penegar captures moments in nature through his detailed sculpture and bronze casting art. As a fisherman, former exhibit designer for the North Carolina Aquarium and avid traveler who has sailed across the Atlantic Ocean twice, Penegar presents a unique and intimate perspective of nature. March 26- New 4-D Movies Premiere

Join us for two new 4-D experiences! In Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs- The 4-D Experience, watch as our favorite sub-zero heroes venture into a lost world of dinosaurs after Sid the Sloth decides to raise three dinosaur babies as his own. Or, be among the first to see Coastal Predators 4-D Experience, a new film from BBC Earth, the creators of the hit series Planet Earth. Enjoy these 15-minute 4-D experiences with a Premier Pass or a membership.

March 27 through April 5- The World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids

Experience the magic of mermaids this spring break! The World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids are returning to the Aquarium to dive in the Great Ocean Tank. Three mermaids will dance to a musical number in a 20-minute show, inspiring and delighting visitors of all ages. An additional mermaid will be available for photos in the Great Hall, and you’ll find exciting new activities throughout the building. Shows take place at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. daily and are included with Aquarium admission or Membership.

March 30- Morning Mermaid Performance: Members-only Event

Doors open at 8 a.m., Performance at 8:30 a.m.
Wake up with a splash! Our doors will open an hour early on these two days exclusively for Aquarium Members to enjoy the World-Famous Weeki Wachee Mermaids’ performance before the crowds arrive. March 30- SALT at Station 22: A Good Catch Dinner

6:30 p.m.
Are you ready for warm spring days on open-air patios next to the beach? Join us at SALT at Station 22 as Executive Chef Charles Arena prepares a six-course dinner with wine pairings featuring sustainable seafood, including shrimp crudo, local clam and grapefruit salad, and roasted snowy grouper. March 31- Gervais & Vine: A Good Catch Dinner

6:30 p.m.
Enjoy a five-course sustainable seafood dinner with wine pairings in the beautiful and lively setting of Columbia’s premier wine and tapas bar! Located in the Congaree Vista, Gervais & Vine is a Spanish-styled tapas bar with culinary influences from all across the Mediterranean. While you enjoy a delicious selection of dishes prepared by Executive Chef Jason Holowacz, Good Catch Coordinator Shelley Dearhart will share her expertise on how to make sustainable choices when ordering seafood. March 31 and April 2- Mermaid Painting Workshop: A Members-only Programs

9:30 – 10:15 a.m. in the Aquarium classrooms
Free your inner artist and receive painting guidance from the experts at Fear No Easel as we paint a mermaid in her “habitat” on an 11 x 17 canvas. Supplies will be provided, and tickets are $20 each. Recommended for ages 6-17. Choose from four available sessions. Reservations are required and can be made by calling (843) 579-8518.

April 7- JumpBunch: A Members-only Program

10 – 10:30 a.m.
Back by popular demand, this 30-minute program is designed for your little ones to get their sillies out in a fun setting at the Aquarium. Jump, dance, wiggle, skip, play and have fun to music. Recommended for ages 18 months to 4 years old. Free to members. Reservations are required in advance and can be made by calling (843) 579-8518.

April 11- Terrapin Trekking & Refuge Paddle: A Members-only Program with NAO

1 – 4 p.m.
Spend a fun afternoon exploring the marshes along the Intracoastal Waterway in Awendaw overlooking the Cape Romain Wildlife Refuge. The Eastern Diamondback Terrapin lives in these estuaries and tidal marshes. You’ll be guaranteed to see and touch at least one terrapin on the trip! Learn about terrapins’ conservation status and find out how to install a bycatch reduction device on a crab trap to protect terrapins in the wild. Ages 4 and up. $50 for ages 13 and over; $30 for ages 12 and under. April 24- 15th Anniversary Conservation Gala

6 – 11 p.m.
Join us for the 2015 Conservation Gala to honor conservationist Jeff Corwin with the Environmental Stewardship Award, celebrate the Aquarium’s 15th Anniversary and commemorate the opening of Shark Shallows. The festive black-tie evening will include a cocktail reception, a seated dinner and awards ceremony on Liberty Square and an After-Affair overlooking the Charleston Harbor.  Tickets will be available February 20 and may be purchased by calling (843) 579-8540.

April 25- Saltwater Sounds

9:30 a.m. – noon
The Charleston Symphony Orchestra joins the Aquarium to present a marine-inspired musical performance especially for children. Enjoy tunes by the tank and visit the Instrument Petting Zoo, where children can see, hear and touch the instruments as demonstrated by professional musicians. Saltwater Sounds is free with Aquarium admission or Membership.

May 9- Shark Shallows Grand Opening

Experience sharks at your fingertips. Join us for the premiere of Shark Shallows, the Aquarium’s newest exhibit featuring a shark touch tank. Want to be among the first to experience Shark Shallows?
