Aquateen Program

The South Carolina Aquarium is pleased to announce a wonderful seasonal volunteer opportunity for ten local 16 and 17 year old students. Qualified applicants are invited to apply for the Aquateen program to work as Exhibit Guides for at least twelve shifts between June 11th and August 19th. Exhibit guide shifts are four and a half hour long, either morning or afternoon, and run Monday thru Friday. Some weekend shifts may be available depending on circumstances. Exhibit Guides interact positively in the various galleries, in the Touch Tank interpreting our exhibits, answering questions and consistently providing an exceptional visitor experience. These volunteers convey the theme of the Aquarium with special emphasis on education and conservation. Training will be held here at the Aquarium (7 hours) and online (8 hours).

Application must be submitted by May 17th. Applications submitted after that date may not be considered. Ten participants will be chosen. Students of all academic levels will be considered. Application should include an essay describing experiences you have had with customer service; public speaking and strengths or skills that you might bring to the program.
