Madagascar by Moonlight Father’s Day Weekend Sleepover

Take a walk to remember on an island adventure after the sun has set as we explore our new Madagascar Journey exhibit. Interact with some of the island’s explorers as you are guided through the diverse ecosystem on the world’s fourth largest island. Animal encounters, educational programs, an evening snack, and a continental breakfast await your family or group on this wild overnight safari. A special Father’s Day craft project will be included in the evening’s activity. Please make reservations before June 1 to insure program is confirmed. Full payment is due at the time of reservation, and space is limited. Make your reservations today! Payment is not refundable, but is transferable. Children under the age of 16 must have a parent/guardian present at event. All ages welcome. Non-Members: $40 Ages 4-11 (3 and under are free)/$45 Ages 12 and up. Members-only Movie Night: Dolphin Tale

Bring your blankets and get cozy in the lower gallery of the Great Ocean Tank for a special showing of the movie Dolphin Tale (Rated PG). Dolphin Tale is a story about a lonely and friendless boy who finds and untangles a hurt dolphin that is caught in a crab trap. He becomes very attached to the dolphin when the tail must be taken off to save the dolphin's life. The boy believes the dolphin would be able to swim normally if it was given a prosthetic tail. Space is limited and reservations required. No entry without a ticket. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Enjoy light refreshments and learn about the Aquarium’s involvement with Marine Mammal Protection and our own Sea Turtle Hospital. Movie will start promptly at 7:00 p.m. Event is free and nonperishable food donations to the Lowcountry Food Bank are encouraged.

THIS EVENT IS SOLD OUT! Assist the Aquarium staff as we search the sand and waves for sea creatures. We’ll drag a large net called a seine through the surf and collect fish, crabs and maybe even a small shark. Our educators will show you the secret lives of fish, seashells and other beach dwellers as we walk along. Tickets are $8 per member. Space is Limited. Reservations required.

South Carolina Aquarium 4th of July Celebration

Celebrate the Fourth of July over the blue waters of the Cooper River on the Riverside Terrace of the South Carolina Aquarium. An evening of fun for the whole family, enjoy tasty Bar-B-Q from Smoky Oak Taproom, a 4-D Theater movie viewing, face painting, music and spectacular fireworks overlooking the Charleston Harbor courtesy of Patriots Point. The Fourth of July Celebration, a popular, sellout event, begins at 7 p.m. and ends after the fireworks. Seating is limited and guests are encouraged to reserve a space early. Tickets include beer, refreshments and food. Tickets are $55 for adults, $30 for children (3 and under are free). Aquarium members enjoy special discounted pricing, $50 for adults, $25 for children. Guests can bring their own chairs and blankets. No personal coolers allowed. Thanks in part to our sponsors: Smoky Oak Taproom, The Bridge at 105.5 and Y102.5. To make this night even more spectacular, bring your sleeping bags and camp out under the sea after the festivities are over. Cost is an additional $20 for everyone (3 and under are free). It will be love at first bite! Fall in love with all things shark during this weeklong event made just for kids! Sit in on shark-themed dive shows, participate in interactive activities such as ‘Sharkeology,’ ‘Shark Stations,’ and ‘Shark Shapes,’ then play in the shark cage, take your picture in the mouth of a shark and marvel at the sharks in the Great Ocean Tank. Shark Week activities are free with general admission or membership.

Shark, Rattle and Roll

Kick off the anticipated Shark Week with a waterfront concert that is not to be missed. Enjoy several local bands as they preform out on the Riverside Terrace, or put some motion in the ocean to the sounds of a DJ inside the Aquarium. Then savor some delicious nibbles by some of your favorite local restaurants. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with a full cash bar including drink specials. Tickets include music and food, and can be purchased in advance for $25 and at the door for $30. Members enjoy $20 tickets. Must be 21 to attend. All proceeds will go towards the care of more than 5,000 animals in residence at the Aquarium.
