In an effort to help North Carolina facilities overwhelmed by a large number of cold-stunned sea turtles that stranded in early December, nine sea turtles were transferred to the SCA's Sea Turtle Hospital on 13 December 2010. Carteret, a juvenile weighing 2.72 kg, is one of seven greens received from NC.
Carteret arrived with significant ventral surface abrasions on his plastron and rear flippers (see picture). This little green's treatment regime included fluids with vitamin B complex, antibiotics, and calcium gluconate. Carteret is feisty, however, and eagerly ate all the fish we offered on 15 December.
