Overview : Watershed

Welcome to the South Carolina Aquarium Online Curriculum for Sixth-Eighth Grades. The theme for this grade group is "Watersheds"; all activities presented here teach concepts that build on this theme. These activities are intended for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade teachers. All activities are based upon South Carolina State Science Standards, and each activity contains procedures, materials lists, standards addressed, assessments, background information and resource lists. The following is a list of the information available on this site:

  • Overview: Sixth-Eighth Grade Online Curriculum Homepage
  • Pre-Visit Activities: Each of these activities covers a different concept related to watersheds. Together they form a comprehensive unit that will prepare students for their visit to the Aquarium.
  • Visit the Aquarium: An overview of the activities sixth -eighth grade students will be participating in at the Aquarium who are visiting as part of the Structured School Program.
  • Post-Visit Activity: An activity that synthesizes the students learning by involving them in conserving local watersheds.
  • Resources:
    • Glossary: Definitions of key terms used in this curriculum.
    • Connections: Other curricula and fieldtrip destinations that can be extensions for both this curriculum and/or a visit to the Aquarium.
  • Kids' Fun Stuff!: Fun, online activities for students that will reinforce concepts taught in the curriculum.
