Through its own business practices and operations, the Aquarium seeks to encourage others to reduce, reuse and recycle and practice eco-friendly living. What are we doing about it?
Aquarium staff and volunteers are committed to recycling paper, cardboard, glass and aluminum, recycling 31.52 tons in 2007!
The Aquarium requires that its special event caterers also recycle
The life support systems for most of the Aquarium's exhibits reuse and recycle water, which also helps to control operating cost and maintains optimal conditions for the Aquarium's diverse living collection.
Automatic flushers and hand sinks in the bathrooms control how much water we use
We recycle batteries (A,AA, AAA, C, D and rechargeable batteries) as well as fluorescent light tubes and compact fluorescents
